Authentic tackles the issue of performative pleasantries on social media. In other words, being nice to someone because you want to be perceived as nice by other people. Rather than being truthful and authentic with people, we have chosen to buy into the fad and only present the best parts of our lives on social media, chasing whatever will create the biggest buzz and give us the most likes. I'm sick of this way of living, and nothing I've ever done (not even school) has given me a larger feeling of burnout. Selling yourself for likes and fame is not the answer, and this song is my retort.

Pain Away tackles my struggle with identity in the modern age, and the pain that loneliness of not knowing who you are can create. But in soul-searching, I've found the one thing that can heal that pain and give me identity is God.

The Rooftop Cassette marks a pivotal time in my career: the next chapter. I've done a lot of learning and growth over the past 5 years making music, and now is the start of the professional chapter. You can expect a higher grade of quality from this point forward, and an attention to the craft of production and songwriting that is so meticulous you will be amazed.

I wrote Waterfalls before some of the songs I had released prior to it, but I wanted to work with Clarke again on something that I had produced this time, so I needed more time to get it right. I sent the files over to him, and he loved it so he sent back his vocals pretty quickly. I took some extra time to produce it the way that I liked, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out.

Fresh is a weird experiment for me. I wrote the song as a flashback to a time in my life when I was confused and trying to figure out who I was, and I associated myself too closely with the wrong people. The last line of the song is my way of saying that I was broken by those people and had to rebuild and re-identify who I am as an individual.

Afloat
was my take on a house song. I had never made anything like it before, but wanted to try producing for a different genre, and I really like how it turned out. It's a fun, danceable tune that has some darker elements to it than you would normally get with your typical house song.

Clarke and I wrote Hey our first year at college together, and for our first time writing together we made something awesome. The final version of the song is not the original version, but I love what Clarke did with it. Our original version was pretty rough, but 4 years later we came back to tackle the song, and Clarke did most of the producing to really make it something amazing. This is the first song I've released where I took a hands-off approach and was able to trust my fellow artist and producer. Clarke is incredibly talented, and if you like this song, you should check out his other music.

I wrote
Mixed Signals
during my last semester at college and released it a year later as my first project since graduating. I worked really hard to level up my production and mixing, and I think this marks my first commercial sounding record.

This multi-work project was my first album release, albeit by accident! I wanted to release a 7 song EP, but streaming services recognize anything over 6 songs as an album. I wrote the majority of these songs my fall semester of senior year in college, and released it at the beginning of my spring semester. I also had a special promotional event where I created 3 T-shirts with the album art of this release, and never made them available for purchase. Only 3 lucky people have a Summitless T-shirt.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, I wanted to write some fun danceable songs to remind myself of the better times, and NYTK is one of those. I wrote this song specifically as part of an online class I took through Monthly with Ryan Tedder, in which I learned a lot of valuable things about producing.

City 'Scapes is such a fun pop song. I wrote it one day during quarantine because I was bored and missed having fun outside with my friends, so even though it's kind of a love song, it's mostly just about having a good time!

Triumphant is my second official release, and a recreation of a song that I uploaded 2 years prior on my SoundCloud. Up until this point, I really didn't know much about music production, so this is my first true production experiment. From this point onward, I developed an ear for creating sound landscapes for songs to inhabit, and building a world for the listener in each release.

LLIQ is my first official release, and I love these songs because they mark the beginning of my journey as a producer. I'm proud of this work, but it's pretty raw and not recorded particularly well, but listening to it now shows my growth as an artist and a producer. I hope you can enjoy this work for what it is, a novice's attempt to pursue his passion and practice his artform.
